This evening course will cover navigation, tripping in a sea kayak and an evening paddling tour on a local lake.
Paddle Canada certified instructor. All gear (including dry suit if required for the course) is provided! Should you wish to bring your
own gear please let us know.
Paddle Canada Skills Level 1 Certification if you all complete all four Sea Kayak courses.

Intermediate Strokes and Maneuvering

Pre-requisite: Fundamentals of kayak rescue or equivalent
This course expands on sessions one and two in offering stroke techniques used to stay balanced out on the water. You will leave feeling more
confident turning, edging, bracing and maneuvering a sea kayak. You will be exploring the boundaries of your boat, come prepared to
practice your rescue skills!

Packraft 102 - Whitewater Skills

Packrafting in the latest newest craze in Paddlesports. Packrafts are lightweight, highly manoeuvrable, fun and forgiving personal watercraft. Yukan Canoe Packraft 102 teaches you whitewater skills you will need for River or Creek Paddling. We utilize curriculum developed by the American Packrafting Association and focus on learning technique. We provide a safe, supportive yet challenging environment for you to learn & practice. Packraft 102 builds on Packraft 101
2 full river days
We use a combination of Takhini, Watson & Wheaton Rivers
9am – 6pm each day
Our fleet comprises of Alpacka and Kokopelli self bailing packrafts complete with Thigh straps and deck bags.
All equipment including drysuits is provided. (Running shoes are required)
Packraft 101 is a prerequiste course for Packraft 102. We have split the course for flexibility.

Swift Water Rescue

Course is run over 2 evenings and 2 full days or 3 full days Custom dates may be available. Skills include: Hydrology, Rescue Equipment, Swimming, Wading, z-drags and rescues, sweepers, unpinning of canoes, cinches, knots, live bait rescues. This swift water rescue course is ideal for those wanting river rescue knowledge, perfect for canoeists, fisherman, boaters, kayakers or anyone who is around rivers, creeks or streams. This rescue course is very hands on with lots of in water time, simulations and in the river practice. We may use a rescue mannequin in simulations. Each rescue is unique so we teach you different options that you can use based on the situation.
Upon completion of the rescue course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from American Canoe Association, the oldest Paddlesport Organization in the world.

Traditional Swift Water course – 3 days during the week for People working around Water. – Environmental Techs, Fishery’s, Educators, Fisherman, Game Guaradians and Paddlers.

Paddler Focused–$449
Includes skills in Industry course and includes more boat based Rescue. Canoes will be the prime water craft used in course but Kayaks, inflatables & packrafts are welcome. Course taught over 2 evenings and 2 full days. May include camping at Takhini River. Moving Water paddling skills is a pre requisite for this course.
2 dates: May 17,18,19 (all day) or June 5,6(evenings) & 7,8 (all day)
Advanced Swift Water Rescue- 4 days at Lapie River $699
For people with prior Swift Water Rescue courses. Boat based (canoe, kayak, packraft) course on Lapie River. Participants will provide own boat and need to be a Grade 2+ paddler. More details coming soon

Swift Water Awareness- $325
New for 2025– 2 day course focused on: How Moving Water works, River Hazards, Wading, Swimming, Throw Bag use. This course gives you the fundamentals for being around or in Moving Water. It builds your confidence to be in the water. We do not do technical rope work such as Z-drags in this course.

Packraft Focused – Course for Packraft specific rescues/techniques details and dates coming very soon.
Hybrid for Educators– Combination of online self learning+ 2 fulls days on Takhini River. We will camp out on Takhini river. This is a new format for 2025 targeted for Educators. Course will be Canoe focused with Boat Based Rescues. Participants will need prior Moving Water Paddling Skills. Precourse on-line work completion is mandatory before on water days. Sign up Early so you have to time to complete assignment.

Intro to Moving Water Solo Tripping

This course is designed to provide you will the skills to solo a regular tandem canoe on moving water such as the Yukon, Teslin or Takhini Rivers. Perfect for those that want to paddle solo on an extended paddle trip. We will cover front ferries, eddy turns, landing your canoe, reading the river, equipment, paddle strokes, safety and much more. You will learn how your canoe responds to you and how you are in control.
Course runs 1 evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. Locations will be determined based on current water levels and participants. We use a combination of the following rivers: Yukon, Takhini, Watson or Wheaton Rivers.
Intermediate/Advanced Whitewater Solo Playboating

Are you wanting to push your Solo Whitewater Canoeing skills? This course is taught in fully outfitted solo whitewater canoes designed for turning and playing in whitewater. Your solo skill and confidence will grow. Taught will be on Yukon’s premier Canoe Instructing River – the Lapie River. We base camp for 4 days and run various sections of the Lapie, Ketza and Ross Rivers. We provide learning challenges appropriate for your skill level. Practicing hard moves on easier water prepares you for making your moves on more challenging whitewater.
Group may be a mix of intermediate/advanced paddlers that we offer individual challenge for each student.
We utilize video analysis of your paddling and review video in the comfort of our portable classroom.
